Marriage Prayers

Marriage Prayer

To Restore One Another

Dear Heavenly Father,

So much of our time is taken up, just keeping up with the demands of everyday life. Responsibilities can be overwhelming some days. So many things demand our attention, our thoughts, and our time. While some of these things are necessary, we need help to slow down the pace and manage our time more effectively.

We ask that You give us the wisdom to prioritize our time so that we have ample time for each other.

Draw us closer together through understanding, compassion, and trust. Teach us to unwind in each other’s presence, and to restore one another with encouraging words. One of the most refreshing things one can have in the hustle and bustle of life are the soothing arms of a lover that welcomes us home.

Help us to find that place of refuge and strength in each other.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Bible Verse to Ponder:

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. – James 3:17-18, KJV

Prayer Card Couple
The Prayer Card couple maintains the collection of prayer cards written during Post 10.
The week before a TCR weekend, the prayer couple gets a list of weekend attendees and does the following:

  • selects a card for each couple attending
  • contacts the card writers by email, text, or phone asking if they will pray for the couple. The card writers are told the couple’s first names
  • write couple’s first names on a post it note and attaches it to their prayer card
  • delivers the prayer cards to hotel sometime between Friday night and Sunday lunch

The time commitment ~ 2-3 hours every 6 weeks.

Mozeo Texting
The Mozeo texting person or couple writes and schedules the texts that are sent to weekend couples. The texts start the Monday after the weekend and continue until the last post session. The texts may include a dialogue question, suggested change, or a reminder about Post. Most of the texts are already written and can be rescheduled. The names and phone numbers of the weekend couples need to be uploaded to the Mozeo program.

Would you like to become a Mentor Couple?

Two of our most important goals in Retrouvaille are helping hurting couples and developing our TCR community. Here is a chance to do both!

TCR is starting a Mentor Couple program similar to efforts in other successful communities.

What is a Mentor Couple?
Mentors are TCR couples who have been through a weekend and the Post sessions. They connect with new Friday night couples to provide a supportive link to TCR and its programs.

What are the qualifications?
If you have been in Retrouvaille for a year and want to help other couples, you qualify! Being good listeners and working well together as a couple are particularly helpful.

What will Mentor Couples actually do?
The Friday night couple you are helping will receive your contact information and a short bio. They will be expecting a text from you in the week following their weekend to set up a call. This is a chance for them to stay connected to another couple who has shared their weekend experience. As with all Retrouvaille, this is not therapy, but a listening ear and an open heart.

How do I find out more?
Contact Eric & Char Anderson at TCRFinance@tcr-mn.org.

Patron Saint of Retrouvaille – St. Joseph

O blessed Joseph, faithful guardian of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, protector of thy chaste spouse, the virgin Mother of God, I choose thee this day to be my special patron and advocate and I firmly resolve to honor thee all the days of my life. Therefore I humbly beseech thee to receive me as thy client, to instruct me in every doubt, to comfort me in every affliction, to obtain for me and for all the knowledge and love of the Heart of Jesus, and finally to defend and protect me at the hour of my death. Amen

‘I know by experience, ‘ says St. Teresa of Avila, ‘that the glorious St. Joseph assists us generally in all necessities. I never asked him for anything which he did not obtain for me.
